This additional requirement does not apply to existing installations and when it is technically not possible to use renewable energy, and where neither natural gas nor district heating is available as a substitute for oil, or if any alternative to oil heating is associated with inappropriate effort or uncheap hardening.

Is there an exchange obligation?

No, anyone who has lived in his property since 01.02.2002 or earlier as the owner is not obliged to exchange oil heating, no matter how old the device is. Anyone who has inherited or acquired such a property from the reference date must renew the boiler if it is a constant temperature device. Derartigeboiler was mainly installed in the 1970s, in rare cases until the mid-1980s. The boiler types subsequently placed on the market were and are low temperature and condensing plants. For these, there is no obligation to exchange, even if they are older than 30 years of age.
