Because of a reported basement fire, the rescue services went to Deißlingen, a residential area, on Wednesday evening. Relief then on site: only a smaller fire that was quickly brought under control, no one was injured.

[Update November 25, 2021, 1:50 p.m. - the police report as follows] Because an oil heating system in a residential building on Hessestraße in Deißlingen was no longer working properly, there was a deflagration in the boiler room around 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The exhaust pipes were literally torn out of the chimney. As it turned out shortly afterwards, there was no fire or open fire. The residents with presence of mind switched off the heating when they noticed the bang and alerted the fire brigade. The defenses of Deißlingen and Rottweil then moved in with nine vehicles and 40 emergency services. Checking the boiler revealed a faulty nozzle on the burner. Apparently, too much oil was pumped into the combustion chamber of the boiler, which is why the deflagration occurred. The responsible chimney sweep came on site and shut down the heating until it was repaired and serviced. The fire department ventilated the building. The extent of the damage caused has not yet been determined. There were no injuries.

[Our original report] The Deißlingen fire brigade and also members of the Rottweil fire brigade were called to a family home in Deißlingen on Wednesday evening. There, the residents heard a bang from the basement and then noticed smoke, according to fire department spokesman Sven Haberer when asked by NRWZ. In fact, there had been a fire in the boiler room – but the first workers to arrive, who were wearing respiratory protection, were able to quickly smother the flames behind the heating system with a hand-held fire extinguisher.

Nevertheless, the building was already full of smoke, according to the fire department spokesman. The residents had already left it.

The turntable ladder that had been brought up was already in position, but then did not have to be extended. The forces from Rottweil, which had arrived with it and a fire engine, were soon able to move away again. They were accompanied by city fire chief Frank Müller, here in his role as deputy district fire chief. Commander Frank Fabian from Deißlingen was in charge of operations.

The Red Cross sent an ambulance and the organizational director of the rescue service. In addition, volunteers were on site on standby.
