A boy was seriously injured on Monday in a toboggan accident in Ruhpolding in the district of Traunstein. The child was traveling with his mother on a plastic bob towards the valley. At a stop, the mother fell off Bob. The vehicle made itself independent and slid with the child on the harshly frozen meadow faster and faster towards the valley. After the boy with the Bob had been catapulted high at an elevation, he bounced against a barrier fence and fell to the ground from about two meters above sea level. The two year old was first provided by the emergency doctor and brought with serious injuries to the hospital Traunstein. The responsible parties did not provide any more detailed information.

Bub released from clinic again

After one night at the hospital, the boy could be released home again today. According to the Ruhpolding Police Inspectorate, the accident was a "chain of unfortunate circumstances." The child and his mother from the Mühldorf district wanted to try out the new plastic bob and slide off a hill.

Tips for toboggan

The doctors at the Traunstein Clinic recommend that children wear a helmet even when riding a sledge. Especially toboggan runs are often very icy.

In addition, the experts advise from the Bergwacht in Chiemgau to be defensive, i.e. careful and considerate driving during winter sports. Especially parents with children should inform themselves beforehand if the targeted track is really suitable for children. Especially for toddlers, real toboggan runs are often nothing yet, says the Bergwacht.

Hope for fresh snow

However, the weather in Upper Bavaria is not rodler friendly anyway. The tracks on Blomberg, Wallberg or Hörnle, for example, are blocked-too icy or too many bare surfaces. There you are currently hoping for fresh snow instead of rain.
