We tested the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB on a Fiat Ducato basis, the top model among the panel vans from the Sprendlingen brand. It comes with a practical fold-down bed in the rear and other clever details.

With the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB, among other things, which we are testing here, the brand from Sprendlingen is again bringing a collection of panel vans into its range for the 2021 model year - and that after the Eura, which belongs to the French Trigano group Mobil had focused purely on high-quality alcove campers, semi-integrated and integrated models for many years. However, Eura Mobil does not seem to be tempted by quick money with the adventurous simple campers, because they remain true to the brand values introduced with the new van models: solid furniture construction, well thought-out details, clever floor plan concepts. The van collection based on Fiat Ducato is available in three lengths and layouts: the six-metre-long V 595 HB (59,800 euros) with a transverse rear bed is the entry-level model, followed by the V 635 EB (63,300 euros), whose Longitudinal single beds can be folded up to the side for transporting bicycles while driving. However, the most exciting variant is likely to be the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB tested here (64,300 euros, as of November 2021): Its large rear bed can be infinitely adjusted in height electrically, and bicycles or even motorbikes roll into the rear via a solid ramp - depending on the situation Adjusting the height of the bed in the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB, two people can fit between the mattress and the cupboards, and in the highest position at least one person in the middle. Eura Mobil Van 635 HB in the test

The Eura Mobil Van 635 HB impresses visually with elegant and homely furnishings: Light beige and cream tones and light wood decor characterize the surfaces, that could be traditionalist: inside as well as campers:inside with a little more modern taste. Narrow LED light strips accentuate the built-in furniture, the floor is covered with a robust surface that looks like sisal or coconut, but has a matt, non-slip feel and is hard-wearing. The light mineral material of the kitchen worktops also looks extremely high-quality. The 120 hp Ducato engine is installed as standard in all Eura Mobil panel vans. The optional 140 hp motor in the panel van, which can also be found in our test vehicle, is a little quicker and more than sufficient. More efficient? Can, but doesn't have to be. However, we would recommend the nine-speed automatic (option) installed in the test vehicle. It makes driving the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB easy, relaxed and comfortable.

Eura Mobil Van 635 HB: Automatic is a must

And it is precisely these characteristics that characterize the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB in other respects: the way the large rear bed purrs up or down at the touch of a button makes you want to to spontaneous sports trips or everyday transport and camping moments immediately afterwards. Wide and comfortable, the 1.85 x 1.90 meter mattress invites you on its plate spring frame, depending on your taste, campers who are not quite so tall can even sleep lengthwise here. Open additional compartments under the cupboards look forward to odds and ends, light switches or USB charging sockets don't have to be searched for long. The test is also fun when you look under the bed: The robust aluminum checker plate and the solid screw hooks even hold heavy and dirty sports equipment. With an optional outdoor shower, the coarsest dirt can be washed off the mountain bike and co., and the vehicle technology is housed in narrow longitudinal installations. The fact that only two five-kilo gas bottles fit here is not a big deal, because the Eura Mobil Van is heated with diesel, and its 90-liter compressor refrigerator leaves enough gas for long-lasting coffee brewing on the two-burner stove. If the 100 Ah lithium-ion battery installed as standard is also fed by the photovoltaic system included in the comprehensive Mondial package (including awning), there is not much to stand in the way of self-sufficient adventures in the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB.

Skyview panorama window in the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB

In the test, living in the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB was very good: The bathroom with the clever pivoting mirror wall and the toilet pushed out to the left is big enough for more than a cat wash, but still doesn't take up much space in the set-up. Swivel the mirror and washbasin as a whole to the left - and you have a very comfortable shower cubicle. The kitchen is structured in a similarly smart and unexcited manner: you rarely need more than one two-burner stove, and there is enough work surface next to it: either above the covered sink or – with the water tap open – on the folded-out cover plate. And this nice kitchenette is chic too. That brings us to the semi-dinette, which allows more freedom with the table top that can be folded up in half when playing or sliding onto the bench seat, but when fully folded out it offers enough space for dining. High-quality interior paneling around the standard framed windows create an atmosphere here, as does the Skyview panorama window. The fact that some possible storage space above the driver's cab of the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB is lost as a result should hardly bother anyone, because the view of the sky is simply magnificent.

by Johannes RiegsingerOur conclusion

Conceptually well thought out and cleanly implemented, this is the (re)entry of Eura Mobil in the van segment. The active and variable design of the Eura Mobil Van 635 HB should definitely be of interest - and, as in our test, by no means disappoint.
