Fraudster stole 30,000 euros with a shock phone call

(4359) On Thursday, the police received a total of three shock calls. In two cases, the people called recognized the scam and ended the calls. In one case, money was handed over.
In Oberschona, around 5:15 p.m., an 80-year-old received a call from an unknown man. The alleged telephone fraudster pretended to be the son of the 80-year-old and reported on a traffic accident resulting in death, which was allegedly caused by the son. As a result, another unknown person took over the phone call and posed as an employee of the public prosecutor's office. The person who caused the accident would go to jail, it said. He could avert this by paying 60,000 euros. The 80-year-old was then able to raise 30,000 euros and handed the money over to a man he did not know. After some time, the older man noticed the dizziness and called the police.
In Oelsnitz/Erzgeb. At around 11:00 a.m., an 82-year-old woman received a call from an unidentified man. The alleged telephone scammer reported on a fatal traffic accident, which was allegedly caused by the 82-year-old's son. The polluter would go to jail, it was said, and could avert this by paying 76,000 euros. The 82-year-old quickly noticed the dizziness and ended the conversation.
In Stollberg, an 84-year-old woman received a call around 1:00 p.m. An unknown male person reported the words "Police Saxony". As in the previous cases, the 84-year-old was tried to suggest that her son had had a traffic accident. Since the 84-year-old has no son, she immediately ended the conversation.
The police have now started an investigation into fraud. In addition, further investigations will show whether there is a connection between the crimes.

(4360) Unknown perpetrators daubed a total of eight hay bales with swastikas on Thursday night in a field not far from Breitenlehn street. Breaked into the apartment and took loot

(4361) Unknown persons broke into a ground floor apartment on Heinersdorfer Strasse on Thursday morning and ransacked the premises for stolen property. In the end, the burglars stole a cell phone, a tablet, a carton of cigarettes, jewelry and cash. The total theft damage adds up to around 800 euros. Caravan stolen from property and involved in an accident/witness request

(4362) Police officers were called to Bayreuther Strasse on Thursday evening because of an alleged traffic accident. On the ground, however, the situation was somewhat different.
Unknown perpetrators tried to steal a caravan from a property on Bayreuther Strasse with a previously unknown vehicle. But the coup was not crowned with success for long. Shortly after the start of the journey, the presumably improperly attached caravan broke away from the towing vehicle and crashed into an Audi car parked on the side of the road on Bayreuther Straße. The unknown thieves and those who caused the accident were able to flee as a result. The property damage adds up to around 2,500 euros. The specified stealing damage to the caravan that was left behind was estimated at around 5,000 euros. The police, who are investigating illegal removal from the scene of the accident and particularly serious cases of theft, are looking for witnesses.

(4363) After a citizen complained that cyclists and e-scooter drivers were illegally riding on the sidewalk, police officers from the Chemnitz Traffic Police Inspectorate carried out a combined speed and cyclist check on Reichenhainer Straße on Thursday. There were several checkpoints. On the one hand in the area of the roundabout at the southern station, where the officials found five cyclists who drove illegally on the sidewalk. The penalty for this administrative offense: 50 euros. In the area of Ebertstrasse (out of town) and Dittesstrasse (inward) a total of 23 administrative offenses were found. Among other things, a cyclist committed a mobile phone violation, which can be punished with a fine of 55 euros, four cyclists and two e-scooter drivers were illegally on the sidewalk and six cyclists were found whose bikes had defective lighting (20 euros fine). .Furthermore, the officials found ten cars that did not keep to the prescribed speed of 30 km/h in the area of the bicycle lane. (4364) On Friday morning, the 43-year-old driver of an Opel car drove in the left lane of Autobahn 4 in the direction of Dresden. Between the Chemnitz-Mitte and -Glösa junctions, at the height of the railway viaduct, she was overtaken on the right by a previously unknown car in the middle lane. To avoid a collision, the 43-year-old swerved to the left, with the Opel touching the concrete safety barrier. The Opel then left the road to the right, overturned in the adjacent ditch and came to rest on the vehicle roof. The unknown car continued its journey in the direction of Dresden. The Opel driver suffered serious injuries. There was material damage totaling around 3,500 euros. The police have started investigations into endangering road traffic and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident and are looking for witnesses. (4365) A traffic accident occurred in Neefestraße on Friday morning, resulting in property damage totaling around 29,000 euros. According to current information, the 47-year-old driver of a VW car was driving into town, apparently driving the trailer of a Mercedes truck parked at the side of the road collided. The impact threw the rear of the VW against a Fiat car that was also driving into town (driver: 23). The driver of the VW suffered serious injuries in the accident. (kg)

(4369) The 32-year-old driver of a Toyota car drove on Frankenberger Straße from the direction of the B 180 on Thursday evening. At the exit of a right-hand curve, the Toyota left the roadway, crashed into a bridge and came to a standstill in the adjacent stream. There was property damage totaling around 7,000 euros. The 32-year-old suffered serious injuries. He was apparently under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A breath alcohol test carried out showed a value of 1.42 per thousand. For the German national, blood was taken, his driver's license was secured and a report was filed for endangering road traffic. The moped collided with a Toyota car that had the right of way in the roundabout (driver: 50). The 17-year-old suffered minor injuries in the accident. (4374) On Friday morning, the fire brigade, police and rescue services were called to a burning winter service vehicle in Kirchgasse. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames. According to the current state of affairs, the multicar caught fire during the snow clearing work, after which the driver (58) was able to drive the vehicle to a nearby parking lot to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings. The 58-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation. The vehicle suffered damage of several thousand euros. The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
