Stellantis has announced the launch of two new Fiat models that will also be available as pure electric vehicles. Specifically, it is a van and a delivery truck. The names are well known: Ulysse for the van, Scudo for the van.

The current announcement closes the circle for the two models: They have been used for the so-called "Eurovans" since the mid-1990s. This was a joint project between PSA and Fiat to build people carriers and delivery vans on a common basis under the Fiat, Lancia, Peugeot and Citroën brands. The two generations of Eurovans were manufactured in France. From 2014, PSA put its Citroën Jumpy/Spacetourer and Peugeot Expert/Traveller models on its own EMP2 platform - while Fiat switched to the Renault Trafic, Opel Vivaro and Nissan Primastar platforms with the new Talento.

Since PSA and FiatChrysler have merged into Stellantis, the Fiat vans will again share technology with Peugeot and Citroën (and now also Opel). As announced by Stellantis, the new versions of the Scudo and Ulysse will be based on the EMP2 platform and will go into production at the Hordain plant near Valenciennes in northern France.

In the announcement, Stellantis does not yet provide technical data for the BEV versions of the two models. Anything other than the well-known 100 kW drive would be a surprise. In the shortest version of the vehicles (around 4.60 metres) only the 50 kWh battery is available, in the lengths L2 (around 4.95 metres) and L3 (5.30 metres) a 75 kWh battery can also be ordered as an option become. The range with the small battery is around 220 kilometers in the WLTP standard, with the large battery 330 kilometers are possible according to WLTP.

For more realistic information on range and travel speed including charging stops, we recommend our driving reports: For the private customer version, analogous to the Fiat Ulysse, we tested the Opel Zafira-e Life in length L2 with a large battery. In terms of commercial vehicles as the Scudo counterpart, we also took a close look at the Citroën ë-Jumpy with the large battery.

Fiat Professional Scudo orders will open in major countries between the end of this year and early next year, while the Fiat Ulysse will be available from the first quarter of 2022. Stellantis is not yet naming prices.stellantis.com
